Group Cohort- For those working in Charity/social Sector

Interested in going deeper? This cohort is specifically designed for people who work in the funding space, including: philanthropy, charities, impact investment, CICs, etc. As this is a cohort, anyone joining is expected to join every session, which will take place on Wednesday evenings from the 22nd September- 3rd November, except on Wednesday 6th October which will be a 'reading week'.

We will be making space to consider questions that are often levelled at this sector regarding colonial power dynamics and whiteness, and how these impact how we show up in the workplace.

This cohort is designed for a maximum of 14 people to meet every week for 6 executive weeks to give the opportunity to build on previous discussions and offer further accountability and trust to each other.

  • The expectation would be for everyone to commit to attending all 6 weeks together - with space to decide together what the boundaries/guidelines of the group will be (e.g. if you miss one/two/three, do we suggest a participant leaves the group?).

  • In the 6 weeks, we will alternate between structured and more unstructured sessions to meet the needs of the group:

  • Structured sessions will include set readings/listening/watching and agendas (the same as our open and previous sessions)

  • Unstructured sessions will provide opportunity for everyone to bring their own issues they are navigating at work/personally and potentially their own topics/ideas for exercises. These sessions will also be a space to discuss action we are taking/want to take, and rehearsing calling-in role plays, etc.

  • Is it for me?

We have decided to design this space for people who identify as white or white passing. We recognise that there are many ways to facilitate this work and have previously only held sessions open to people of all racial identities. However, keeping in mind the potential of unintentional harm of us being unable to fully account for and hold space for the emotional/physical process of racialised people, we have decided this approach is more ethical for us at this moment in time. We acknowledge we are on a continuous learning journey in relationship to this process, and we welcome conversation, feedback and thoughts on this decision from people who want to talk more about it.

Let's Talk About Race- OPEN SESSION

This session is designed to welcome newcomers who haven’t attended one of our sessions before, either just to check it out, or to decide whether you want to commit to an upcoming 6 week cohort.

NB. Please bear in mind that the upcoming 6 week cohort this autumn is specifically designed for people in the charity/funding sector (including philanthropy, charities, impact investments, CICs, etc.)

How does it work?

The reading/listening/watching for the session will be short and manageable (a maximum of 1 hours).

We ask that you only attend the session if you have engaged with the materials for that week.

Anyone is welcome to attend the group. You can register to show up at any session, as long as you respect the attendance guidelines.

Once you've registered, we will send you the ‘reading’ for your chosen session and information about the guidelines of the group.

In the spirit of openness and welcoming the group, we ask that you sign up using your full name in order to receive follow up details (and use your full name on Zoom).on designed to welcome people who have not previously attended one of our sessions.
